Colours

Sometime last year I thought it'd be cool to make a post about colours, but, umm... I forgot to :D But today I've got a newsletter from COLOURlovers.com and remembered! So, basically COLOURlovers.com is everything you'll ever need from a site that's dedicated to colours. It's even got a new pattern section fro you to enjoy! I'd also suggest reading around the blog for various colour-related things and, well, just go and see :D

If you're having troubles with naming colours, then try using the online Colour Thesaurus, because you might end up doing something likethis.

And, umm... another similar site is myPANTONE.com, but I'm not too familiar with it since I haven't got an account there, but it should be great as well :]

Pillows

My dear friend Johnson gave me a Supernice link and insisted on an update. How can one refuse? Who doesn't like pillows? It's an essential item in any chillout room and, well, in any bed I guess.

And, if you want more nice pillows, Henry Road will offer you some!

Nightmare Playgrounds

A friend named Milda showed me some Nightmare playgrounds and I am glad I haven't been to any when I was a child :D

We <3 it

<33 We<3it.com is the place of all places! It's wonderful! I am incoherent, so I am copying stuff from the site's about page and going to go and register there.

What it is

We Heart It is a social bookmarking tool for images and videos.
We see many great images on blogs and websites around, and now you can put everything you saw and liked on the same page to look again whenever you want.

Some of my findings:
- Zeptonn
- Mcbess.com

Oh wait, just two so far :D

The Little Chimp Society

Oh my, I am updating again! It's because a friend o' mine showed me a link to Thelittlechimpsociety.com and I started to wander around, found some wee gems there, then I found some more through other places and et cetera. As always, most of them are at Flickr.com :D

First of all, you've probably noticed this Moleskine notebook obsession, right? There are tons of communities, websites, groups and whatever dedicated to them and now I have found a site that engraves art on the covers with the help of them lasers. The site is Engraveyourbook.com and, if you visit their flickr page, you'll see that they engrave stuff on iPods and MacBooks too. Makes me want to buy all those things just for the engravings :|

Ok, now that we're done with the covers, let's see what hides inside those books. Flickr.com is full of groups with those, but the sad thing is, people seem to post their stuff in every possible group and anywhere you go, you see same sketches and pages. It's sad :< But, to my surprise, Moleskine City seems to contain some different and, mostly, better stuff. I mean, just look at the artists that I've found on my short stay there:
- Vantazy;
- Esek One;
- Foom23;
- Enanna.sun.

Wah, I have decided to make my updates contain less stuff, but be more frequent, but, ehh, I'm sorry :D I've still got one more link to post and I'll be gone :D

The Desktop Wallpaper Project!

Free[k]hand

There are two certain Flickr.com groups that I am a member of and often visit: Notebookism and Drawing Journal. The titles are pretty self-explanatory I guess. So, anyway, every time I go there, I spot one or two drawings similar to the picture above and, somehow, I never clicked on the artist, although I really liked them. Now I did, though, and I have acquired a new contact in my Flickr contact-list :]

Miguel Herranz a.k.a. Free[k]hand is a wicked illustrator, my friends, but I seem to like his sketches more than finished/official works. Or maybe it's just me *shrugs*. Apart from his Official Website, you can spot him on
Flickr and on Blogspot too!

Enjoy enjoy!

P.S. note the new link lists on the page's left :]

Randomness

Looks like I died again and no excuse for that this time, so I'll put in some random links that I liked recently :]

A friend named Agniya showed me a really neat Russian Calendar. Agniya is cool, she once found something for an old update of mine. <3 I went to visit her and a few people in London last week btw. :]

Then there's Flickr.com again, because I like that site the most now. I found a group where people make and post songcharts. Just click and see for yourself :]

Also, Blogspot is full of wee gems as well. So I'll show you two of them today:
- I Took Photos
- Photoshop Disasters
no explanations needed I guess? :]

And, finally, something that's not kawaii for once :D

Thank you for reading, I hope the next entry will come sooner than this one did :D

Badges

I've always wanted to make an entry about badges because I happen to have a slight obsession with them :]]

First of all, you will love Prickie.com as much as I do or maybe more, because there are tons of awesome badges + links to the artist sites and such. It makes me want to have a credit card so I could order them goods, but it also makes me not to want it because it'd be too hard to choose and I'd end up spending all of my money on those :D

Another good place is the Badge Review blog that's updated daily and has a huge list of links to other badge related stores/sites.

And I've got addicted to Flickr, so I've also found a nice group dedicated to badges. You can post your collections there :]

I have outdone myself

By not updating for ages! Thought I'd at least make a [probably] last entry for the year 2007 and... try to be better in 2008? I am working on the update now, but I am not too sure about the 'being better part, sorry :D

I have decided that I don't really like DeviantArt anymore as it's over-crowded with either crap or the 'popular' artists have all started to look alike and that's kind of bothering. Of course, there're still people that I go there for, but not as much as there used to be :< So, if I want something really good, I go to our wee Blogspot, my current favourite of EVER Flickr or artist portfolios, but let's stay with those two goldmines for now, um? :]

Blogspot:
Kris.likes.to.draw - good style
Faitetrit - A French artist
Matte Stephens - Birds and other lovely creatures
No-eye-candy-here - A fellow Lithuanian
Mistake by Kuanth - Look at those things!
Armina - monsters and there was something else

Flickr:
Magelis - my happy forest friend <33 You can see a lot of me in there :D
Dzian-dzian - Milda is cool, I know her in person and I am not ashamed to brag about it!
Cinamonas - I met him once :D A photographer for this one Lithuanian magazine called Pravda and, yeah, I forgot to be humble again :D
Fotoaparatas - Another Lithuanian with his amazing photographs. I have recentlly found out that I've got a weakness for tiny flowers.
Lastleaf - I especially like the older works
Eat your carrots - Aaaahh! Can't get enough of it, I think you can find them @ Blogspot as well.
Malota - aaaaaaaaaaaah!!
Senioritapolyester - Where do they come from? ;_;
Himnôfeda - Good style *pats*
Greentheory - I like them :]

Ah, enough for now! Let me flee~

antradienis, rugsėjo 25, 2007

I nearly skipped a month.

I kind of forgot this place existed :D Haha, I hope I haven't lost my... three? readers yet!

So, since we're drawing skulls in uni, I was browsing around for examples to study and found Skull-A-Day. Skulls seem to be trendy nowadays.

Then I found some polaroids by Grant Hamilton along the way. These are cool, it's an interesting approach to photography in general <3

And now I make my exit, because that is all I have for now. Do not fret, though, I'll try to make a second entry before the month expires!

Start Drawing

Startdrawing.org is a website dedicated to Asian artists. You can choose prefered categories and/or countries as well as browse around other useful links provided by the site. I can't get enough of it at the moment :)

Pimp pimp pimp

Today I am pimping out two Lithuanian blogs for ye.

The first one is called DIY-shirt and the name's pretty self-explanatory. The owner of the blog looked like female-Jesus for three days. I saw it with my own eyes.

The second one is 1979. This time it's a lad and he posts numbers and pictures. It's pretty interesting, but I wish he'd update more often.

The Art of Music

Ah, this update's all Flickr again! Ah well, it's got good shizz and I am forcing it all on to you :D This time I dug up some groups that contain flyers, posters and everything music-related.

Stripper Polaroids

And right underneath this photo, there's a comment that explains it all to us:
"This photo came from a collection of over 400 Polaroid photos of strippers trying out for dancing jobs at a So. Cal club. They were taken from the late 1960's thru the early 1970's. I bought the entire collection for $10."

Everything was stylish back then, even the strippers. Of course, there are some pictures that I wouldn't have included in the collection, but then it'd be too perfect and thus - no fun. So, come forth, the Stripper Polaroids @ Flickr.

Supernatural Lifeforms

It's Summer! Just look how good today's date looks in This Day in Type. It's a neat site, they've got a different looking type for every day. You can also submit something of your own.

Also, if you're nosy and like to read other people's confessions, you should got to Penance.us where people write their sins (in 7 main categories). You can add your own too.

Today's entry's got a little something to do with the outter planets as well. See Planet Detrus. I'm not a fan of flash sites, but this one I couldn't imagine done in HTML.

Finally, the last link leads to Felix Heinen's posters. I would really like to see them in full size.

I've got things to show

I was told to update :D Luckily I had a few things ready :)

So, the person who told me to update is named Agne and Agne once got a link from Agniya and it was a Flickr gallery of a theatre squat in London. It's quite amazing with 30+ people living in it.

Also, I had my art project's presentation on the 11th. It's for the art's exam, the creative part. I did a calendar of 2008 and the reason I am bringing this up is because I've found a really neat calendar out there. Mine was Zodiac signs travelling througth the months, but this one blew me away. I never imagined that you can get this original with a simple calendar.

Another nifty thing is The Baby Name Wizard. 1900 was the year when my name reached its popularity peak :D

The last one in April

I've been a lazy updater. Well, there are exams to study for, but that would be a lame excuse because I don't study as much as I should and I do have time for updates now and then. Ah well, spice ay life. Let's see what Vesta brings (I hope I'll make it til 12am, otherwise the subject line will be a lie).

I wish I could participate in something as cool as the Y Conference. I'd draw 100 teacups with a green marker or run out of ideas after 10 random drawings and my piece wouldn't be included in the website. But it would still be fun!

Another fun thing is Eat Poo U Cat. A friend named Milda showed it to me and I registered. It's kind of like Explodingdog.com in a way, but you can not only submit sentences, you can also draw stuff and even guess what's drawn. Make sure you go there.

Then I saw Print Gocco - another thing that I probably will never have but want to very badly. Bah. :<

But let's not think about it anymore. It's spring andLove is in the air, on the ground or anywhere else you'd like it to be.

Oh, I would like to write for a little longer, but there's not much time left for me. May 1st Reboot is starting in 5 minutes. Don't miss it!

The Little Ones

I was about to say that I don't know how come I haven't posted about them earlier, but I'd lie, because I do know why; had only two kinda-okay songs and didn't think much of them. But, a few days ago, I had the chance to listen to their self-released album 'Sing Song'(2006) and loved it. Some people call The Little Ones one of the happiest indie bands around, others call them summery-sounding - which means practically the same thing - and I couldn't agree more.

Genre: Indie

Tracks to download
The Little Ones - Oh, MJ!
The Little Ones - Lovers Who Uncover
The Little Ones - Lovers Who Uncover (Crystal Castles remix) - I can't decide which one I like more: this or the original.

The Cool Hunter

I've read an article about cool-hunts and there was a link to a not-working site bellow, so I googled 'cool-hunter' and found this site. I know that you might not like the 'mainstreamness' of the thing, but I've found some nice things in there and I would like to share them with you.

I like packaging, especially when it's good.

Shoo Biz is about... shoes? And the way people sell them. Also, some more shoes for you to costumise.

How come kids get the best looking clothes, things and even bookshops?

This one might be my favourite because I happen to be a footie addict and want to have a room like that.

Street style! Inspiration-Nation! Street Stalker! Street Stalker! Street Stalker!

My dream bag.

If you're not too sure whether you want your tattoo to be visible 24/7, you should consider this.

This update starts with something awesomely cool, it starts with a Magnetic fluid art installation that everyone should see. A nice person, who's also known as Turbo, gave me this link along with my birthday greeting :)

And then, we shall laugh our arses off with the im in ur base jokes. I can't even pick a favourite! If you want more, you should go here and here for Fresh Spam.

I love the internets :D
